care funds

Our Care Funds are distributed to clients based on demonstrated need. We usually provide funds only to those who find themselves in emergency financial situations due to unexpected expenses they've incurred. In other words, we do not provide funds for people who are chronically poor and have no plan to rectify their situation.

Guidelines

A detailed application is filled out by the client in which they specify their monthly expenses and income. Caregiving then does some reference checking with the Department of Human Services and the business to which they owe money. We may also do a background check on those who have criminal records.

The typical amount that we provide is $100. The client is expected to raise the rest of the funds needed before Caregiving writes a check to the business they owe. With minimum fills of propane tanks or Consumers Energy bills we may provide more funds based on the individual situation.
